Australia crush Sri Lanka by 134 runs in 1st T20I

Patna : Opener David Warner hit an unbeaten 56 balls 100 as Australia demolished Sri Lanka (SL) by 134 runs in the 1st T20I at Adelaide Oval, Adelaide, Australia, on October 27, 2019, registering an emphatic win. Chasing a target of 234 runs, SL scored 99/9 in 20 overs with batting all-rounder Dasun Shanaka scoring 17 and Kusal Perera (wk) scoring 16.

Captain Lasith Malinga remained unbeaten on 13 while Nuwan Pradeep remained not out on 8. Spinner Adam Zampa took 3/14 in 4 overs while fast bowlers Mitchell Starc and Pat Cummins took 2 wickets each. Starc and Cummins ran through SL’s top batting order. Ashton Agar took one wicket.

Earlier, asked to bat first by SL who won the toss, Australia scored 233/2 in 20 overs. Openers Aaron Finch and David Warner added 122 runs for the first wicket. Finch fell to Lakshan Sandakan for 64 in 36 balls with 8 fours and 3 sixes. Glen Maxwell fell to Dasun Shanaka for 62 in 28 balls with 7 fours and 3 sixes. warner and Maxwell added 107 runs for the 2nd wicket. David Warner, who had a extremely poor run in the Ashes series in England few months back, remained unbeaten on 100 with 10 fours and 4 sixes.
