Djokovic, Berrettini advance to QFs of Shanghai Masters

Patna : Defending champion and top seed Novak Djokovic, Serbia, and 11th seed Matteo Berrettini, 23, Italy, entered the quarter-finals of Shanghai Masters, an ATP World Tour 1,000 points event, at Shanghai, China, on October 10, 2019, winning their respective Round of 16 matches in straight sets.

World No 1 Djokovic beat World No 17 John Isner, 34, USA, 7-5, 6-3 in Round of 16 in 74 minutes winning 2 break points in the match besides winning 5 games in a row. Both the players fired 9 Aces each in the match. Djokovic though also committed 3 double faults. But, he also won 44 service points to 39 by the 16th seed American. Jokovic’s winning percentage both on his first and second serve (89% & 100%) was much higher than that of Isner (58 % & 82 %).

World No 13 Matteo Berrittini beat World No 10 Robert Bautista Agut, 31, Spain, 7-6, 6-4 in Round of 16. Berrittini hammered 13 Aces in the match to 5 by 8th seed Agut. The Italian won 3 break points in the match to 2 by the Spaniard. Both the players won 3 games each in a row in the match. Berrettini won 48 service points to 45 by Agut.
