Bettiah : An ATM  containing over Rs 2.6 lakh cash located on Vivah  Bhavan premises, Dhumnagar, around  3km away from  Shikarpur police station under Narakatiaganj sub-division in West Champaran district, was stolen by a gang of thieves on September 25, 2019, late night, after uprooting it.  Police sources said that a “Tata Indi Cash” ATM was  installed on the premises of Dhumnagar Vivah Bhavan.

When the shopkeepers in the locality on September 26, 2019, morning, noticed that the ATM had been stolen, they informed  police. SHO, Shikarpur police station, Ugranath Jha, with other  police officials reached the spot to inquire into the incident. SHO Ugranath Jha said that a case has been lodged against unknown persons by ATM Incharge Santosh Thakur with the police station in this connection. 

It was the second incident of ATM theft in West Champaran District within a fortnight. On September 11, 2019, night, the thieves had stolen an ATM of SBI containing Rs 28.83 lakh after uprooting it at Tikulia Chowk under Chanpatia Police Station.
