Patna : Tai Tzu Ying, 25, Taiwan, has returned to World No 1 position in the Badminton World Federation (BWF) rankings released on September 24, 2019, with 93,045 points after reaching the final of Victor China China Open last week. She has jumped three places in the rankings after bagging 10,200 points by reaching China Open final.

Akane Yamaguchi, 22, Japan, has slipped one place to be ranked World N0 2 with 91,950 points after losing in the first round of Victor China Open. Nozomi Okuhara, 24, Japan, who too made 1st round exit in the China Open, remains World No 3 with 91,436 points.  All England Open Champion Chen Yu Fei, 22, China, has slipped 2 places to be ranked World No 4 with 90,965 points.

Reigning World Champion P V Sindhu, 24, India, who lost in the 2nd round of China Open, remain World No 5 with 79.324 points while Ratchanok Intanon, Thailand, remains Would No 6 with 78,535 points. He Bing Jiao, 22, China, too remains World No 7 with 71,570 points. Saina Nehwal, India, too remains World No 8 with 65,637 points despite losing in the 1st round of China Open.

Reigning Olympic Champion Carolina Marin, 26, Spain, has jumped just 1 ladder and  is ranked World No 23 despite winning the China Open as she just was the defending champion and had retained her 12,000 points hence there was no addition to her exiting points of 44,290.
