FIR lodged against 3 persons for making video of rape victim

Ara : Bhojpur police on September 13, 2019, evening, instituted a named FIR with Ara Town police station under section 23(4) of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offence (POCSO) Act against three persons including the Secretary, Mahila Vikas Manch, from Patna Divyani Dubey for allegedly making video of a rape victim that went viral.

Bhojpur SP Sushil Kumar said that a four- member team of Mahila Vikas Manch from Patna had come to Ara on September 6, 2019, after a video of a minor rape victim went viral on social media in which she was charging RJD MLA from Sandesh in Bhojpur district Arun Kumar Yadav with outraging her modesty. The team met the girl and also videographed dialogue between them. The statement of the girl was recorded before an Ara Court under section 164 CrPC second time the same day on the initiative of the Mahaila Vikas Manch.

Later, the video was allegedly made viral on the Facebook account of Divyani Dubey, the SP said. The SP further said that no one could make the identity of a survivor public anywhere but the Secretary, Mahila Vikas Manch, Divyani Dubey, made the video viral on her Facebook account which is against the provisions of POCSO Act.
