Siril & Sourabh enter 3rd round of Yonex-Sunrise Vietnam Open

Patna : World No 38 and 2nd seed Sourabh Verma, 26, India, and World No 185 Siril Verma, 19, India, entered the 3rd round of  Yonex-Sunrise Vietnam Open, a BWF Tour Super 100 event, at Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnamn, on September 12, 2019. 

World No 185 Siril Verma, 25, India, upset World No 35 Liew Daren, 32, Malaysia, in a three-game thriller on September 12, 2019,  to enter the 3rd round of  Yonex-Sunrise Vietnam Open. Siril beat Daren 17-21, 21-19, 21-12 in 52 minutes coming from behind in 2nd round at Nguyen Du Cultural Sports Club, Ho Chi Minh City. Siril won 59 rallies in the match to 52 by Daren. Daren, however, won 8 consecutive points in the match to 6 by the Indian. It was first meeting between the two players.

But, World No 41 Subhankar Dey, India, the 3rd seed, lost to World No 138 Jia Wei Tan, Malaysia, in straight games 11-21, 17-21 in 35 minutes in second round.

Sourabh Verma beat World No 72 Kodai Naraoka, 18, Japan, in a tough two-game contest 22-20, 22-20 in 54 minutes in 2nd round. Sourabh won 44 rallies in the match to 40 by Naraoka. Sourabh won 5 consecutive points to 4 by the Japanese. It was first meeting between the two players. Sourabh had won Hyderabad Open, a Super 100 event, recently.

The winner of the tournament will get 5,500 points while the runner-up will get 4,680 points. The semi-finalists will get 3,850 points each and the quarter-finalists 3,030 points each. Players reaching Round of 16 will get 2,110 points each. The Malaysian won 42 rallies in the match to 28 by Dey. Tan also won 6 consecutive points in the match to 4 by the Indian.
