Ind Bihar MLA booked under UAPA at large : Police

Patna : Controversial Independent MLA from Mokama in Patna District, Bihar, Anant Kumar Singh, who has been booked under the UAPA is at large. He was booked under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA) after a police team raided his ancestral house at village Ladma and seized an AK-47 rifle, a magazine, live cartridges and two hand grenades on August 16, 2019.
“Police carried out raid at the official residence of Anant Kumar Singh, MLA, at Patna, on August 17, 2019, night, for his arrest but he was found absconding from his house,” according to SP (Rural), Patna, Kantesh Kumar Mishra. Police arrested Mokama MLA’s associate Chhotan Singh from his official residence during the raid, police said and added adding that a separate FIR is being lodged with Sachivalaya Police Station in Patna against the MLA for giving shelter and protection to Chhotan Singh, an accused in a criminal case lodged with Barh Police Station. Police seized a sword from the legislator’s official residence, police said. The three official bodyguards of the MLA were withdrawn before the raid at Anant’s residence, police added.

Anant also known as ‘Chhote Sarkar’ has a long criminal record and was recently summoned to the police headquarters for giving his voice sample in connection with a bid on the life of a Mokama-based contractor.

Anant had reacted strongly to the raid conducted on his ancestral house on August 16 night and alleged a conspiracy has been hatched against him at the behest of a senior JD(U) leader, a former Bihar Minister.” Weapons not belonging to me are being shown as having been recovered from my house. The house was also vandalised during the raid,” he alleged.
