Patna : England, who had scored 258 in their first innings, declared their second innings at 258/5 in the 2nd Ashes Test against Australia at Lord’s, London, on August 18, 2019 . Chasing a target of 267, Australia were 5/0 in 1 over.

England declared their second innings after all-rounder Ben Stokes hit his 7th test ton, an unbeaten 115 in 165 balls with 11 four and 3 sixes more than one hour into the second session of play on Day 5. Jonny Bairstow (wk) remained unbeaten on 30 with 1 four and 2 sixes.

Resurming at their overnight score of 96/4, England lost only one wicket that of Joss Buttler in second session of play on Day 5. Buttler fell to fast bowler Pat Cummins for 31 with 3 fours. He added 90 runs with Ben Stokes for 5th wicket. Stokes and Bairstow added 97 run in unbeaten partnership for the 6th wicket.

For Australia, Pat Cummins took 3/35 in 17 overs while Peter Siddle took 2/54 in 15 overs. Australia had scored 250 in their 1st innings.
