Bhabhua : ACJM II, Bhabhua, Surendra Misshra, on August 1, 2019, sentenced to two years’ rigorous imprisonment (RI) Gautam Kumar alias Sunil Kumar, son of Laloo Ram, and also slapped a fine of Rs 10,000 on him for torturing his wife for dowry.

Advocate for the complainant Mahendra Tiwari said that Sandhya Devi of Ward No 5, Bhabhua, in Kaimur district was married to Gautam Kumar alias Sunil Kumar, son of Laloo Ram of Baraila village under Shivsagar police station in Rohtas district, on April 29, 2013. Her in-laws had demanded Rs 3 lakh at the time of marriage but after intervention of family members and relatives, they took her to their home. But their demands for cash money continued and they started torturing her it. Meanwhile, Gautam Kumar took Sandhya Devi to Harasu Braham with him where he left and returned home on October 20, 2019. She later filed a complained case in the court of the Chief Judicial Magistrate on October 21, 2019, against her husband Gautam Kumar.

Hearing both the side, the court found Gautam Kumar guilty of torturing his wife and awarded two years’ rigorous imprisonment to him and also slapped a fine of Rs 10,000 on him.
