Criminals riding 4 bikes shot at, injured 4 persons at Sugauli in E Champaran

Motihari :  Eight criminals riding four bikes shot at and injured  four  persons in Thakurai tola locality of Sugauli Town  in East Champaran District at 10 pm on July 22, 2019, when they were sitting  near a house. All the injured persons are resident of  Thakurai tola. They were rushed to a private nursing home at Motihari by the villagers. The condition of  the injured persons  is critical, according to the doctors attending on them. Sugauli is around 26 km away from Motihari, headquarters of East Champaran district.

The injured persons have been identified as  Mohammad Aslam, Mohammad Shani, Mohammad Shamim Akhtar, and Mohammad  Saif Ali.  Sugauli  police has lodged an FIR against  Manoj Sahani and four others in this connection on the
statements of the injured  persons . The injured alleged  that Manoj Sahni,  a contractor under Nal Jal scheme, had fired on them. Manoj Sahani is son of Godawari Devi, Chairperson, Sugauli Nagar Panchayat chairperson.

East Champaran SP Upendra Kumar Sharma  on July 23, 2019, visited the place of occurrence and inquired into the incident. He directed  the local police  to investigate the case and arrest the guilty persons at the earliest. Police seized the SUVof Manoj Sahani but he is evading arrest.

SHO, Sugauli Police Station, Surendra Mishra, said that water supply pipes were being laid under Nal-Jal Yojana  by Manoj Sahni  after digging the side of the road using JCB  in Thakurai tola . The villagers including 4 injured persons had objected to it which led  to heated exchange between  contractor`s workers and the villagers on July 22 evening. Two workers of the contractor were allegedly beaten up by the villagers.

Asalam, Shani , Shamim Akhtar and Saif Ali  were sitting near a house chatting after taking dinner. Suddenly, 8 criminals riding 4 motorcycles reached there and resorted to indiscriminate firing on them and sped away . The villagers assembled  there after firings and  rushed the injured persons to Sugauli Primary Health Centre (PHC) but the doctor referred them  to
Motihari Sadar Hospital.
