Srikanth enters 2nd round of BWF Indonesia Open

Patna : World No 9 Kidambi Srikanth, India, entered the second round of Blibli Indonesia Open, an HSBC BWF World Tour Super 1,000 badminton tournament, at Jakarta, Indonesia, on July 17, 2019. Srikanth, the 8th seed,  beat World N0 10 Kenta Nishimoto, Japan, 21-14, 21-13 in the first round in 38 minutes at Istoria Gelora Bung Karno, Jakarta.

Srikanth won 42 rallies in the match to 27 by Nishimoto. He also won 6 consecutive points in the match to 3 by his rival. Srikanth now leads Nishimoto 5-1 Head to Head.

But, World N0. 23 B Sai Praneeth, India, lost to World No 37 Wong Wing Ki Vincent, Hong Kong, in the first round. Vincent beat Praneeth in three-games 21-15, 13-21, 21-10 in 55 minutes.

The winner of this tournament will get 12,000 points while the runner-up will get 10,200 points. The semi-finalists will get 8,400 points each while the quarter-finalists will get 6,600 points each.
