Gurugram ( Haryana) : India posted 268/7 in 50 overs against West Indies (WI) in the 34th match of CWC at Emirates Old Trafford, Manchester, UK, on June 27, 2019, with captain Virat Kohli scoring 72 in 82 balls hitting 8 fours, opener Lokesh Rahul making 48 in 64 balls with 6 fours, Hardik Pandya scoring 46 in 38 balls with 5 fours, and M S Dhoni (wk) scoring an unbeaten 56 in 61 balls with 3 fours and 2 sixes, both in the 50th over in which he hit 16 runs. India fell about 25 runs short of a par score.
But for the last over, Dhoni batted in a manner as if he was playing in a test match indicating he is no longer his old self. Dhoni added 70 runs in 60 balls with Hardik Pandya for the 6th wicket in which Pandya’s contribution was 46. Dhoni had batted in the same manner against Afghanistan.
Opener Rohit Sharma was adjudged out in a controversial manner to fast bowler Kemar Roach for 18 with a four and a six when the score was 29. Vijay Shankar fell to Kemar Roach for 14. Kedar Jadhav also fell to Roach for 7 making it 140/4. Kohli fell to Jason HolderĀ (captain) after scoring his 4th fifty in a row in CWC 2019.
Roach took 3/36 while Jason Holder and Sheldon Cottrrel took two wickets each.
