Ara : An elderly  woman was thrashed in Ward No 11 under Bihia police station in Bhojpur district on June 22, 2019, for allegedly practising witchcraft at Ward No 11 under Bihia police station.

A named FIR has been lodged with  Bihia police station in this connection against 10 persons including Raj Kumar Ram, his wife Sushila Devi, daughter Kavita Kumari, sons: Manoranjan Kumar alias Rakesh Kumar, Ghurkheli Ram, Rupan Kumar, Shatrughn Prasad of ward No 1, Siku Ram and his two sons of Haradiya. Police are investigating the matter and also conducting raids to arrest the named accused.

SHO, Bihia police station, said that Kavita Kumari, daughter of Raj Kumar Ram of Ward No 1 under Bihia police station, fell ill and her family members called an old woman of the village to exorcise but the condition of Kavita Kumari deteriorated. At this, her family members alleged that the old woman used witchcraft resulting in deterioration in the condition of Kavita Kumari. Charging her with practising witchcraft, tKavita’s family members thrashed and injured her.
