Ara : Police, on a tip off, arrested two liquor smugglers: Gunjan Tiwari of Ara Bazaar Samit and Rakesh Kumar of Anaith locality under Nawada police station, Ara,  in Bhojpur district, on June 20, 2019, and seized counterfeit notes worth the face falue of Rs 20,000, 17 bottles of Indian Made Foreign Liquor (IMFL), and Rs 6,200 in cash from their possession. Police arrested them from Adarsh Nagar locality near Bazaar Samiti.

Bhojpur SP Sushil Kumar said that he got information that IMFL is being sold at Bazaar Samiti. He immediately formed a police team under Station House Officer (SHO), Nawada police station, Lallan Kumar, that conducted raids in Adarsh Nagar locality near Bazaar Samiti and arrested two liquor smugglers : Gunjan Tiwari and Rakesh Kumar. On their revelation, police also seized 17 bottles of IMFL. During interrogation, both confessed their involvement in dealing in IMFL and counterfeit notes. They also revealed that the counterfeit notes were to be given to the mastermind of the gang.

The SP further said that the counterfeit notes were given in lieu of two cartons of IMFL. The arrested liquor smugglers said that a youth named Vishal took away two cartons of IMFL and gave counterfeit notes of the face value of Rs 20,000. The SP stated that police are investigating the connection between the IMFL smugglers and counterfeit notes suppliers. He also said that  police also are trying to identify the kingpin of the gang, main supplier of IMFL and counterfeit notes.

The SP said that police are trying to establish whether the two arrested IMFL smugglers had any link with an  inmate of Ara Jail Rahul Yadav of Jamuaw under Sandesh police station, who was arrested in connection with printing of counterfeit notes.
