Zverev, Khachanov enter 2nd round of Halle Open

Patna : World No 5 Alexander Zverev, 22, Germany, and World No 9 Karen Khachanov, 23, Russia, entered the 2nd round of ATP Halle Open, Germany, tennis tournament currently called ‘Noventi Open’ on June 17, 2019.

Zverev beat World No 66 Robin Hasse, 32, Netherlands,  6-4, 7-5 at Gerry Weber Stadion, Halle, Germany, in the first round. The German fired 12 Aces in the match to 2 by Haase. Zverev broke Hasse’s service 4 times in the match while the latter broke his service twice. The German won 5 games in a row in the match to 3 by Haase. Zverev, however, also committed 7 double faults to just 1 by Haase.

Khachanov beat World No Miomir Kecmanovic, 19,  Serbia, 7-6, 6-4 in the first round. Khachanov fired 10 Aces in the match to 2 by Kecmanovic. The Russian won 2 break points to 1 by Kecmanovic. Khachanov also won 3 games in a row in the match.

But, World No 16 Gael Monfils, France, lost to World No 43 Pierre Hugues Herbert, 28, France, in the first round. Herbert upset Monfils 7-6, 6-4 in the first round. Monfils committed 8 double faults to 4 by Herbert. Herbert won 2 break points to 1 by Monfils.
