Ara : Chameli Devi, wife of Gulam Pandit of village Kohisan, was crushed to death by a speeding vehicle near Jalpura Mor under Chandi police station on Ara-Chandi main road on June 11, 2019.
Irate villagers blocked Ara-Chandi main road near village Chandi paralysing movement of vehicles. They burnt tyres on road and raised slogans against the police administration. They were demanding arrest of the truck driver. The blockade was lifted after positive response from police officials.
SHO, Chandi police station, said that Chameli Devi was returning to her village from Narayanpur on a motorcycle along with a youth after attending a marriage ceremony at her sister’s home. When they reached near Jalpura Mor under Chandi police station, a speeding truck dashed the motorcycle injuring both of them. The locals rushed them to Ara Sadar Hospital but Chameli Devi succumbed to her injuries.
