Australian Ashleigh Barty is French Open champion

Patna : World No 8 Ashleigh Barty, 23, Australia, is the new French Open champion. Barty swept brushed aside World No 38 Marketa Vondrousova, 19, Czech Republic, 6-1, 6-3 in 71 minutes in the final to win the women’s singles titles at French Open on June 8, 2019, night. Defending and Champion and World No 3 Simona Halep had lost in the quarter-finals of the clay court tournament this year.

Barty broke Vondrousova’s service 5 times in the match while the latter could break his service just once. Barty also won 4 games in a row in the match. The Australian served 3 Aces in the match to just 1 by Vondrousova. Barty’s winning percentage both on her first and second serve ( 62 % & 81 %) was much higher than that of Vondrousova ( 47 % & 62 %). Barty won 36 service points to 31 by Vondrousova.
