Anurag Thakur takes charge as Minister of State for Finance & Corporate Affairs

New Delhi : Anurag Singh Thakur assumed charge as the Union Minister of State (MoS) for Finance & Corporate Affairs here on May 31, 2019.  Thakur took the charge in the presence of Union Minister for Finance & Corporate Affairs Nirmala Sitharaman.

Thakur was greeted in his North Block office by Revenue Secretary Ajay Bhushan Pandey, CBDT Chairperson Pramod Chandra Mody, and CBIC Chairperson Pranab Kumar Das besides many other senior officials of the Ministry of Finance.

Thakur was born on October 24, 1974. He successfully contested 17^th Lok Sabha seat from Hamirpur in Himachal Pradesh. He was first elected to Lok Sabha in May 2008 in a by poll as a BJP candidate. Earlier, Thakur had successfully contested 14^th,, 15^th & 16^th Lok Sabha elections.

Thakur was the President of Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) from May 2016 to February 2017. On July 29, 2016,  Thakur became the first serving BJP Member of Parliament to become a regular commissioned Officer in the Territorial Army.  Thakur has done his bachelors education from Doaba College, Jalandhar, Punjab, according to a PIB release.
