New Delhi : Prime Minister Narendra Modi on May 23, 2019, received congratulatory telephone calls from leaders across the world including from Ms. Sheikh Hasina, Prime Minister of Bangladesh; Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuk, King of Bhutan; Dr  Lotay Shering, Prime Minister of Bhutan; K P Sharma Oli, Prime Minister of Nepal; Ibrahim Mohamed Solih, President of Maldives; Ranil Wickremesinghe, Prime Minister of Sri Lanka; Vladimir Putin, President of Russia;  Emmanuel Macron, President of France;  Abe Shinzo, Prime Minister of Japan; Scott Morrison, Prime Minister of Australia; Pravind Jugnauth; Prime Minister of Mauritius;  Mohamed bin Zayed, Crown Prince of UAE; and Benjamin Netanyahu, Prime Minister of Israel on his victory in the General Elections 2019.

Warmly felicitating PM Modi, the leaders expressed the view that the historic mandate reflected the abiding faith of the people of India in his leadership.

Expressing his gratitude for their compliments and good wishes, PM Modi said that the general elections embodied the strength of Indian democracy, which is the world’s largest.  He thanked the global leaders for their cooperation in developing mutually beneficial bilateral relations and multilateral cooperation, and expressed his desire to continue to work further with them in fostering even stronger ties, according to a PIB release.

The Prime Minister has also expressed his gratitude to several other leaders who have extended their felicitations to him over social media and other means.
