Patna : World No 1 and top seed Novak Djokovic, Serbia, beat World No 9 Stefanos Tsitsipas, 20, Greece, 6-3, 6-4 in 1 hr 32 minutes in the final to lift the Madrid Open singles title after May 12, 2019, mid-night. Djokovic has won the Madrid Open title for the 3rd time. He also equalled World No 2 Rafael Nadal’s record of 33 ATP Masters 1,000 title in the process. Djokovic had earlier won the Madrid Open title in 2011 and 2016. Djokovic broke Tsitsipas’ service twice in the match.
