Ara : A pregnant woman died on running train for want of proper medical care despite the passengers even as her family members repeatedly requested the officials for help.

Md Mojahiddin of village Babudi in Madhubani district in Bihar lived with his wife Nasima Khatoon, 25, in New Delhi. When his wife became eight month pregnant, she suffered from jaundice and so Md Mozahiddin decided to go to his native village. On April 30, 2019, he reserved two berths in S-6 in the 20802 Dn New Delhi-Islampur Magadh Express.

When the train was to reach Allahabad Railway station, the condition of the woman deteriorated. The co-passengers called on rail helpline No 182 for medical aid. The railway officials assured to provide medical help at Allahabad railway station but no medical aid reached  there  and condition of the woman further deteriorated. Fortunately, a doctor was travelling in the same bogie of the train and he helped the woman in delivering the baby but it was too late. The woman died for want of medical aid and the baby also died. Even after the death of the woman and her child, no one came for help and the TTE concerned allegedly forced them to get down from the train.
