RR had won the toss but opted to bowl.
RR spinner Shreyas Gopal took hat-trick in the match taking the wickets of opener Virat Kohli, A B de Villiers (10), and Marcus Staoinis (0) on the 4th, 5th, and 6th balls of his only over. Gopal took 3/12.
Fast bowler Oshane Thomas took 2/6 in his only over taking the wickets of Heinrich Klaasen (6) and Paan Negi (4). Gurkeerat Singh Man fell to Riyan Parag for 9 while Parthiv Patel fell to fast bowler Jayadev Unadkat for 8.
