Verdasco, Munar, Fritz enter 2nd rlound of ATP Barcelona Open

Patna : World No 37 and former champion Fernando Verdasco, 35, Spain, World No 57 Jaume Munar, 21, Spain, and World No 58 Taylor Fritz, 21, USA, entered the 2nd round of  Barcelona Open, Barcelona, Spain, an ATP 500 point clay court event, on April 22, 2019.

Verdasco beat World No 93 Feliciano Lopez, 37, Spain, 6-4, 6-3 in the first round. Verdasco broke Lopez’ service thrice in the match while the latter broke his service only once. Verdasco won 5 games in a row to 2 by Lopez. Verdasco won 42 service points to 29 by Lopez. Lopez, however, fired 5 Aces in the match to 2 by Verdasco. Both the players committed 3 double faults each.

Munar beat World No 107 Pedro Sousa, 30, Portugal,  2-6, 6-4, 6-0 in the first round. Munar broke Sousa’s ser vice 6 times in the match while the latter broke his service 4 times. Munar won 8 games in a row in the match to 3 by Sousa. Munar won 40 service points to 37 by Sousa.

Taylor Fritz beat World No 59 Reilly Opelka, 21, USA, 6-3, 6-4 in the first round winning three games in a row. Fritz broke Opelk’s service twice in the match. Fritz fired 5 Aces in the match to 7 by Opelka. Opelka committed 7 double faults to 2 by Fritz.
