Patna : Rajya Sabha (RS) Member Dr Misa Bharti, eldest daughter of RJD Chief Lalu Prasad, will be the RJD nominee from Patliputra parliamentary in Patna district while former Ministers : Abdul Bari Siddiqui and Jagdanand Singh, will be party candidates from Darbhanga and Buxar constituencies respectively in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections. Former CM and HAM (S) chief Jitan Ram Manjhi will contest from Gaya constituency while Mukesh Sahni, President of Vikashsil Insaan Party (VIP), will contest from Khagaria constituency. Dr Misa Bharti had lost to Union Minister Ram Kripal Yadav (BJP) from Patliputra in 2014 LS polls.

Leader of Opposition in Bihar Assembly Tejaswi Yadav on March 29, 2019, announced the names of 38 Mahagathbandhan (Grand Alliance) candidates for the LS polls. Tejaswi announced the names of party candidates for the 19 out of the 20 seats the RJD is contesting. The RJD has left Ara seat to the CPI(ML), which has fielded Raju Yadav from there.

The RJD has fielded former Minister Chandrika Rai, son of former Bihar CM Daroga Prasad Rai, from Saran. Chandrika Rai is the father-in-law of Tej Pratap Yadav, MLA and eldest son of Lalu Prasad. The party has re-nominated former Union Minister Jai Prakash Narain Yadav from Banka and Shailesh Kumar alias Bulo Mandal from Bhagalpur.

Former Union Minister Sharad Yadav has been fielded from Madhepura while another former Union Minister Raghuvansh Parsad has been fielded from Vaishali constituency. Former Bihar Minister Surendra Yadav has been fielded from Jehanabad, Vibha Devi from Nawada, Heena Sahab from Siwan, former MP Arjun Rai from Sitamarhi, Gulab Yadav from Jhanjharpur, Randhir Singh from Maharajganj, Surendra Ram alias Mahant from Gopalganj, and Sarfaraj Alam, son of former Union Minister Taslimuddin, from Araria. The RJD has nominated Shiv Chandra Ram from Hajipur and Tanveer Hasan from Begusarai constituencies. The party is yet to announce the name of its candidate from Sheohar.

With the RJD announcing the name of  Abdul Bari Siddiqui as party candidate from Darbhanga, it has become clear that the Congress, which is contesting 9 seats in the LS poll, will not be able to field sitting MP and former cricketer Kirti Azad from there. Kirti Azad had won Darbhanga seat thrice as the BJP nominee. He joined Congress a few months back.

Congress has fielded Mohammad Javed from Kishanganj, Ranjeet Ranjan, wife of sitting MP from Madhepura Rajesh Ranjan alias Pappau Yadav, from Supaul, Tariq Anwar from Katihar, Uday Singh from Purnia, Meira Kumar from Sasaram, Neelam Devi from Munger, and Dr Ashok Kumar from Samastipur. Congress will announce the names of its nominees from Patna Sahib and Valmikinagar later.

The RLSP, which is contesting Karakat, Ujiarpur, Purvi Champaran, Paschimi Champaran, and Jamui seats, will announce the names of its candidates later.

HAM (S) has fielded Ashok Kumar Azad Chandravanshi from Nalanda and Upendra Prasad from Aurangabad. VIP has fielded Dr Rajbhushan Chaudhary Nishad from Muzaffarpur. It is yet to announce the name of its nominee from Madhubani seat.
