Youth dies in celebratory firing during wedding at Saharsa village

Saharsa : A youth Amit Kumar died in celebratory firing during a wedding at village Chainpur under Bangaon police station in Saharsa district on March 3, 2019, night. Amit Kumar had gone to village Chainpur along with his friends to attend a marriage ceremony as Baarati where a bullet hit him during celebratory firing. He was rushed to a hospital where the doctor declared him dead.

Amit Kumar’s kin Mohan Thakur, who reached the place of occurrence after the incident, said that the former had told him on phone that he was going to Chainpur with his friends to attend a marriage ceremony. But, during late night he was informed that Amit Kumar had sustained bullet injury. Police reached Chainpur and sent the body to Sadar Hospital, Saharsa, for post-mortem. The village Chowkidar also said that Amit Kumar died in pleasure firing.

It may be mentioned here that a dancer Madhu, a resident of Saharsa town, had died in celebratory firing at village Veeratpur under Sonbersha Raj police station in Saharsa district just a few days back after which the SHO concerned had been suspended. Police had announced that celebratory firing during wedding would be stopped.
