Patna : Opting to bat after winning the toss, Australia scored 236/7 in 50 overs in the 1st ODI against Australia at Rajiv Gandhi Internation Stadium, Hyderbad, on March 2, 2019, with opener Usman Khawaja scoring 50 in 76 balls with 5 fours and a six, Glen Maxwell 40 in 51 balls with 5 fours, and Marcus Stoinis 37 in 53 balls with 6 fours. Khawaja and Stoinis added 87 runs for the 2nd wicket.

Captain Aaron Finch fell to fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah for zero while Peter Handscomb fell to spinner Kuldeep Yadav for 19 in 30 balls with 1 four. Ashton Turner fell to Mohammad Shami for 21 in 23 balls with 1 four and 1 six. Fast bowler Nathan Coulter-Nile (NCN) fell to Bumrah for 28 in 27 balls with 3 for. Wicketkeeper Alex Carey remained unbeaten on 36 in 37 balls with 5 fours. NCN and Carey added 62 runs for the 7th wicket.

For India, Mohammad Shami took 2/44 in 10 overs while Jasprit Bumrah took 2/60 in 10 overs. Spinner Kuldeep Yadav took 2/46 in 10 overs while Kedar Jadhav took 1/31 in 7 overs. Ravindra Jadeja did not get any wicket but he conceded only 33 runs in 10 overs. Vijay Shankar gave away 22 runs in 3 overs.
