Djere, Pella, Ruud & Garin reach SFs of ATP Brasil Open

Patna : World No 37 Laslo Djere, 23, and World No 48 Guido Pella, 28, Argentina, entered the semi-finals of Brasil Ipen, an ATP World Tour clay court tournament, at Sao Paulo, Brazil, on March 2, 2019.

Djere beat World No 60 Felix Augur-Aliassime, 18, Canada, a fast rising tennis player, 6-2, 3-6, 6-3 in the quarter-finals. Both the players served 5 Aces each in the match. Aliassime though committed 7 double faults compared to 1 by Djere. Djere broke Aliassime’s service thrice in the match while the latter broke his service only once. Djere won 5 games in arrow to 3 by Aliassime. Djere had also defeated Aliassime in the ATP Rio Open final on February 25, 2019.

Pella defeated World No 121 Marco Trungelliti, 29, Argentina, 6-0, 6-3 in 1 hr 20 minutes in the quarter-finals. Pella broke Trungelliti’s service 4 times in the match besides winning 7 games in a row. Pella also served 5 Aces in the match.

Pella will face Djere in the semi-finals on March 2, 2019, at 11 pm. World No 108 Caspur Ruud, 20, Norway,  will face World No 92 Christian Garin, 22, Chile, in the other semi-finals at 9 pm the same day.
