Patna : Radu Albot, 29, Moldova, beat Daniel Evans, 28, Great Britain, in a three-set thriller in the final to win the Delray Beach Open, an ATP World Tour 250 points tournament played on hard courts, title at Delray Beach, Florida, USA, on February 25, 2019. Albot defeated Evans 3-6, 6-3, 7-6 in the final in 2 hr 51 minutes.

Both the players broke each other’s service thrice in the match. Albot though committed 5 double faults to 3 by Evans. Evans served 3 Aces to 1 by Albot in the match. Evans won 4 games in a row in the match to 3 by Albot. Evans had stunned World No 9 and 2nd seed John Isner, 33, USA, in the semi-finals. World No 4 Juan Martin del Porto, the top seed, had lost in the quarter-finals of the tournament to Mackenzie McDonals, USA.

Albot has jumped 30 places in the ATP rankings to be ranked World No 52 with 920 points with after winning the Delray Beach Open title. Evans, on the other hand, has jumped 43 places in the ATP rankings to be ranked World No 105 with 546 points by reaching the final of the tournament.
