Patna : India scored 126/7 in the first T20I against Australia at Dr Y S Rajasekhara Reddy ACA-VDCA Stadium, Vishakhapatnam, on February 24, 2019, with opener Lokesh Rahul scoring 50 in 36 balls wit 6 fours and a six and captain Virat Kohli scoring 24 in 17 balls with 3 fours. Wicketkeeper M S Dhoni remained unbeaten on 29 in 37 balls with a six but failed to accelerate the score rate.
Rahul and Kohli added 55 runs for the second wicket but after Kohli’s departure Australian bowlers particularly Nathan Coulter-Nile (NCN) completely dominated the proceedings. Opener Rohit Sharma fell to Jason Behrendorff for 5 making it 14/1. Rishabh Pant was run out for 3 while Dinesh Karthik fell to NCN for 1. Krunal Pandya also fell to NCN for 1. Umesh Yadav fell to Pat Cummins for 2.
