Cuevas, Aliassime, Djere, Bedene reach SFs of ATP Rio Open

Patna :  World No 63 in ATP rankings Pablo Cuevas, 33, Uruguay, World  No 90 Laslo Djere, 23, Serbia, and World No World No 104 Felix Agur- Aliassime, 18, Canada, entered the semi-finals of Rio Open, an ATP World Tour 500 points tournament played on clay courts, at Brasileiro, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, on February 23, 2019.

Cuevas will face Aliassime in the semi-finals on February 24, 2019, while Djere will clash with World No 83 Aljaz Bedene, 29, Slovenia, in the SFs the same day.

Cuevas beat World No 93 Albert Ramos-Vinolas, 31, Spain, 6-3, 3-6, 6-3 in the quarter-finals. Cuevas broke Vinolas’ service 5 times in the match while the latter broke his service 4 times. Cuevas fired 4 Aces in the match to 3 by Vinolas. Cuevas committed 5 double faults to 4 by Vinolas.

Aliassime beat World No 66 Jaume Munar, 21, Spain, 6-4, 6-3 in the quarter-finals. Aliassime broke Munar’s service 6 times in the match while the latter broke his service 3 times. Aliassime won 4 games in a row to 2 by Munar.

Djere cruised past 6-4, 7-5 in 1 hr 36 minutes in the quarter-finals against World No 135 Casper Ruud, 20, Norway. Djere fired 4 Aces in the match to 1 by Ruud. Djere broke Ruud’s service 4 times while the latter broke his service twice in the match. Djere won 5 games in a row to 3 by Ruud in the match.

Bedene entered the semi-finals on February 22, 2019, night, defeating  No 113 Hugo Dellien, 25, Bolivia, 4-6, 6-2, 6-3 in the quarter-finals. Bedene fired 13 Aces in the match to none by Dellien.
