Patna : World No 56 in ATP rankings Damir Dzumhur, 26, Bosnia & Herzegonia, stunned World No 12 and 3rd seed Stefanos Tsitsipas, 20, Grecce, in the first round of ABN AMRO World Tennis Tournament, also known as Rotterdam Open, an ATP World Tour 500 point tournament played on hard courts at Rotterdan, Netherlands, on February 13, 2019, evening.

Dzumhur beat Tsitsipas in three-sets 6-4, 1-6, 7-5 in the first round in 1 hr 54 minutes at Ahoy Rotterdam to sail into the 2nd round. Both the players won 5 break points each. Tsitsipas won 5 games in a row in the match to 3 by Dzumhur.

Tsitsipas fired 8 Aces in the match to just 1 by Dzumhur. But, Dzumhur’s winning percentage on his second serve ( 53%) was much better than that of Tsitsipas ( 36%). Dzumhur committed 4 double faults to 1 by Tsitsipas. Dzumhur won 10 points in a row in the match to 5 by Tsitsipas, who had lost to Gael Monfils, France, in the quarter-finals of ATP Sofia Open in Bulgaria on February 8, 2019. Tsitsipas had reached the semi-finals of Australian Open 2019 and had defeated defending champion Roger Federer, 37, Switzerland, in the Round of 16 on January 20, 2019.

World No 33 Gael Monfils, 32, France, entered the quarter-finals of the tournament beating World No 40 Andreas Seppi, 34, Italy, 4-6, 6-1, 6-3 in the Round of 16 in 1hr 35 minutes. Monfils fired 11 Aces in the match to just 1 by Seppi. Monfils, however, also committed 3 double faults. Monfils won 5 break points to 2 by Seppi. He also won 7 games in a row in the match to 3 by Seppi. Monfils’ winning percentage on both his first and second serve ( 78% & 63%) was better than that of Seppi ( 59% & 51 %).
