Patna : World No 210 in ATP rankings Jo-Wilfried Tsonga, 33, France, stunned World No 44 Pierre-Hugues Herbert, 27, France, in the final to win Open Sud de France, an ATP World Tour 250 points tennis tournament at Montpellier, France, on February 10, 2019.

Tsonga, a 2008 Australian Open finalist, beat Herbert in straight sets 6-4, 6-2 in the final to lift the singles title in 1 hour 13 minutes winning 3 break points in the match. Both Tsonga and Herbert fired 6 Aces each in the match. Herbert committed 3 double faults to 1 by Tsonga, who won 5 games in a row in the match. Tsonga had lost in the semi-finals of the tournament in 2010, 2017, and 2018.

Tsonga had reached Wimbledon semi-finals in 2011 and 2012 and French Open semi-finals in 2013 and 2015. He had reached quarter-finals of US Open in 2011, 2015, and 2016. He has won 17 singles titles.

With this win, Tsonga is likely to jump about 100 places in the next ATP rankings to be released on February 11, 2019.
