Patna : New Zealand (NZ) scored 158/8 in 20 overs in the 2nd T20I against India at Eden Park, Auckland, on February 8, 2019, with all-rounder Colin de Grandhomme scoring 50 in just 28 balls hitting 1 four and 4 sixes, his first T20I fifty, and Ross Taylor scoring 42 ( run out) in 36 balls with 3 fours.
New Zealand, who elected to bat after winning the toss, scored only 29 runs in the last 4 overs losing 3 wickets. Spinner Krunal Pandya took 3/28 while K Khaleel Ahmad took 2/27. Bhuvaneshwar Prasad and Hardik Pandya also took one wicket each. But, Indian bowlers bowled several wides too adding to the New Zealand score.
Opener and wicketkeeper Tim Seifert, who had scored 84 in 43 balls in the 1st T20I hitting 6 sixes, fell to Bhuvaneshwar Prasad for 12 in 12 balls with 1 four and a six. Seifert, 24, hit a four and a six off successive balls in Bhuvaneshar’s second over but the latter had the last laugh sending the former to pavilion on the third ball of the over. Munro ( 12), captain Kane Willionson ( 20), and Daryl Mitchell (1) fell to Krunal Pandya.
Colin de Grandhomme and Ross Taylor added 77 runs for the 5th wicket after New Zealand were 50/4.
