Notorious criminals Shatrughna Singh arrested with 4 pistols, 80 live rounds from Ara

Ara : Patna police, with the help of their Bhojpur counterparts, arrested most wanted criminal Shatrughna Singh alias Jataha from a house in Nyaya Nagar locality near Majhaua bridge under Ara Town police station on February 4, 2019, late evening though two of his associates : Neeraj alias Nepali and Prakash Chaudhary of Belaur under Udwantnagar police station in Bhojpur district succeeded in escaping.

Police seized four countrymade pistols and 80 live cartridges from Khagaul in Patna on his revelation. Shatrughana Singh alias Jataha, son of Amrendra Singh alias Rangdar Singh of Sheikhpura in Patna district, is said to a member of Ranjeet Chaudhary gang of Bhojpur district. Patna police took him with them to Patna.

Bhojpur SP Aditya Kumar while confirming the arrest said that Shatrughn Singh alias Jataha is also a member of Ujjawal gang in Patna and he escaped narrowly while the mastermind of Ujjawal gang, Muchkund, was killed in police encounter on December 13, 2018, at Patna. He had also fled away from Dulhin Bazaar after firing on police force two months ago, the SP said.

Jataha lived at a rented house at Nyaynagar under Ara Town police station and ran Ranjeet Chaudhary gang with the members of the gang : Neeraj alias Nepali and Prakash Chaudhary, and had concentrated on making ‘rangdari’ ( extortion) demands.

The SP said that Jataha had demanded a rangdari of Rs. 18 lakh from a sand ghat owner Rirantar Singh and also a brick kiln owner on WwhatsApp with a threat of dire consequences if they failed to pay the amount but the sand ghat owner became alert and police conducted raids to arrest Jataha, Prakash Chaudhary and Neeraj alias Nepali.

The SP further said that Jataha was going to Allahabad with his family members on February 4, 2019, and had to catch the train from Ara railway station but he had to return home at Nyaynagar as the train was too late. Jataha said that he planned to kill a criminal at Naubatpur after his return from Allahabad but meanwhile police arrested him.

The SP said that at least 10 criminal cases including three murder cases are pending against Jataha in Patna and Bhojpur districts and police would bring him to Ara on transit remand for interrogation.
