Ara : The ambulance drivers and Emergency Medical Technicians (EMTs) went on a seven- day strike in Bhojpur district on February 2, 2019, paralysing the ambulance services. They proceeded on strike to press their demands including a remuneration of Rs 15,000 per month to ambulance drivers, Rs 18,000 to EMT employees per month, appointment letters, regular payment,weekly leave, and leave on festivals.

The protesting drivers and employees led by Manoj Kumar Singh, Bhojpur district president, Amulance Employees Association, staged demonstration before the office of the Civil Surgeon, Bhojpur, at Sadar Hospital, Ara, raising slogans against the government and the PDPL company.

Brajesh Pathak, an EMT employee, and Lav Kush Kumar, an ambulance driver, said that they were left with no option but to resort to agitation as the government had not fulfilled its promise. They said if their demands were not conceded at the earliest, they would be compelled to launch a more aggressive agitation.
