Patna : New Zealand (NZ) beat India by 8 wickets in the 4th ODI at Seddon Park, Hamilton, New Zealand, on January 31, 2019, with fast bowler Trent Boult taking 5/21 in 10 overs and Colin de Grandhomme taking 3/26 in 10 overs with as the ball was swinging. Boult was named Player of the Match. India now lead the five-match ODI series 3-1. India captain Rohit Sharma said it was one of our worst performance with the bat in a long time and gave credit to New Zealand bowlers.

Opting to bowl after winning the toss, New Zealand skittled out India for just 92 in 30.5 overs with wrist spinner Yuzvendra  Chahal scoring an unbeaten 18 in 37 balls with 3 fours and all-rounder Hardik Pandya scoring 16 in 20 balls with 4 fours. Spinner Kuldeep Yadav scored 15 in 33 balls with 1 four.

Batting first, India made a disastrous start with openers Rohit Sharma ( captain) and Shikhar Dhawan getting out for 7 and 13 runs respectively with the team score reading 23/2. Both fell to Trent Boult. Debutant Shubham Gill also fell to Boult for 9 in 21 balls with 1 four. Ambati Rayudu and wicketkeeper Dinesh Karthik fell to Colin de Granhomme without scoring while Kedar Jadhav fell to Boult for 1. Boult also accounted for Hardik Pandya while Bhuvaneshwar Kumar fell to Grandhomme for 1. Kuldeep Yadav fell to Todd Astle while James Neesham took the wicket of K Khaleel Ahmad (5).

Chasing the target, New Zealand scored 93/2 in just 14.4 overs with Ross Taylor scoring an unbeaten 37 in 25 balls hitting 2 fours and 3 sixes. Opener Henry Nicholls remained unbeaten on 30 in 42 balls with 4 fours and a six. Taylor and Nicholls were involved in an unbroken partnership of 54 runs for the third wicket. Earlier, opener Martin Guptil fell to Bhuvaneshwar Kumar for 14 in 4 balls hitting 2 fours and a six. Captain Kane Williamson also fell to Kumar for 11 with 2 fours making it 39/2.
