Kento Momota remains World No 1 in BWF rankings with 1,04,750 points

Patna : Kento Momota, 24, Japan, remains World No 1 in the Badminton World Federation (BWF) rankings released on January 29, 2019, with 1,04,750 points from 19 tournaments though he had lost in the final of Indonesia Masters on January 27, 2019.  But, Anders Antonsen, 21, Denmark, has jumped 5 places to be ranked World No 15 with 51,587 points from 16 tournaments after winning the Indonesia Masters title.

Shi Yuqi, 2, China, and Chou Tien Chen, 29, Taiwan, remain World No 2 and World 3 with 91,582 points and 82,024 points respectively. Reigning Olympic champion Chen Long, 30, China, has jumped one place to be ranked World No 4 with 75,138 points from 15 tournaments. Viktor Axelsen, 25, Denmark, a former World No 1, remains World No 6 with 68,614 points from 11 tournaments.

Kidambi Srikanth, 25, India, has jumped one place to be ranked World No 7 with 63,365 points from 16 tournaments. Anthony Sinisuka Jinting, 22, Indonesia, is World No 8 with 61,125 points while Jonatan Christie, 21, Indonesia, the reigning Asian Games gold medallist, has jumped 3 places and is World No 9 with 58,783 points.

Sameer Verma, 24, India, has slipped one place to be ranked World No 12 with 56,901 points. H S Prannoy, India, has also slipped one place to be ranked World No 19 with 45,610 points. B Sai Praneeth, India, has jumped one place to be ranked World No 21 with 43,877 points. Parupalli Kashyap, 32, India, has also slipped one place and is ranked World No 43 with 33,620 points. Subhankar Dey, India, remains World No 49 with 31,020 points while Ajay Jayaram remains World No 53 with 30,280 points. Sourabh Verma, India, the elder brother of Sameer Verma, has slipped one place to be ranked World No 55 with 29,440 points.
