Ara : Hundreds of girl students of different colleges under Veer Kuer Singh University (VKSU), Ara, on January 29, 2019, staged demonstration in front of the office of the Registrar, VKSU, Col Shyamanand Jha, in protest against refusal of the respective college administration to receive their applications for the Mukhya Mantri Kanya Utthan Yojana.
A student leader Anamika Kesari said that CM Nitish Kumar had announced that the girl students who have completed their graduation in the session 2015-2018, would be given Rs 25,000 and the last date for applying for it was January 31, 2019, but none of the college under the VKSU had received applications from girl students till date saying the VKSU has not issued any instruction in this connection.
Later, Registrar, VKSU Col Shyamanand Jha had a meeting the girl students. Col. Jha said that the girls who completed their graduation after April 25, 2018, would be entitled to Rs 25,000 under Mukhya Mantri Kanya Utthan Yojana and promised that the VKSU administration would very soon issue instruction to all the colleges in this regard. The college administrations would be instructed to receive applications from the students and submit the same to the university on prescribed format so that the application could be sent to the education department for necessary action.
