Ara : Irate villagers blockedĀ Ara-Barhara main road near village Birahipur for about two hours in protest against the murder of a mahadalit labourer of Bhojpur in Gujarat. They burnt tyres paralysing movement of vehicles and were demanding check on rising incidents of violence against Biharis in other states in the country. They also demanded a compensation of Rs 10 lakh to the next kin of the deceased.
Nemulal Ram, 38, son of Pardeshi Ram of Panditpur village under Barhara police station, went to Gujarat to work and started working in a fish factory there. He was living with his family members near Somnath temple in Veravel district in Gujarat for the last 10 years. He had joined New Fashion Food Company about six months ago. On January 22, 2019, about two dozen Gujratis allegedly entered his house and thrashed him to death as he was a Bihari and the entire incident was captured in the CCTV camera.
Shambhu Nath Ram, elder brother of the deceased, said that marriage of 18 year daughter of Nemulal Ram was to be solemnized this year and so he was working hard to earn more money for the marriage. He said that their father Pardeshi Ram is suffering from paralytic attack for the last five years and added that now the family has to face acute financial crisis.
