Patna : World No 15 in ATP rankings Stefanos Tsitsipas, 20, Greece, defeated marathon man and World No 24 Roberto Bautista Agut, 30, Spain, in a tough four-set contest in the quarter-finals on January 20, 2019, to advance to the semi-finals of Australian Open (AO).

Tsitsipas beat Agut 7-5, 4-6, 6-4, 7-6 to make his first semi-finals appearance at a Grand Slam. Tsitsipas had stunned six time champion and defending champion Roger Federer, 37, Switzerland, his idol, in the 4th round on January 20, 2019.

Tsitsipas, who had fired 20 Aces in his 4th round match against Federer, hammered 22 Aces in the match to 6 by Agut. Tsitsipas committed 3 double faults to 2 by Agut. He also won 4 break points compared to 3 by the Spainiard, who had won three of his first four matches in five sets. Tsitsipas won 5 games in a row to 3 by Agut. He won 89 service points to 86 by Agut. Tsitsipas’ winning percentage on his first serve ( 82%) was better than that of Agut ( 74%). But, the winning percentage of both the players on their second serve was identical – 54 %.
