Patna : Reigning Olympic champion and World No 4 in Badminton World Federation (BWF) rankings Chen Long, 30, China, and World No 5 Son Wan Ho, 30, South Korea, will clash in the final of Malaysia Masters 2019 at Axiata Arena, Kualalumpur, Malaysia, on January 20, 2019.
Two- time former World Champion Chen Long beat World No 6 Viktor Axelsen, 25, Denmark, the 2017 World Champion, 21-13, 21-18 in the semi-finals in 50 minutes on January 19, 2019. Chen Long won 42 rallies in the match to 31 by Axelsen. Chen won 6 consecutive points while Axelsen won 5. Chen now leads Axelsen, a former World No 1, 12-2 head to head.
Son Wan Ho entered the final after his semi-finals opponent Liew Daren, 31, Malaysia, the World No 31, retired before the match.
