Patna : New Zealand (NZ) beat Sri Lanka (SL) by 35 runs in the one off T20I at Eden Park, Auckland, New Zealand, on January 11, 2019, riding on 3/21 by fast bowler Lockie Ferguson, 27, and 3/30 by spinner Ish Sodhi, 26. Sri Lanka won the toss but opted to bowl.

Batting first, New Zealand scored 179/7 in 20 overs riding on 44 in 26 balls with 1 four and 5 sixes by fast medium bowler Doug Bracewell and  33 in 37 balls with 2 fours and  a six by Ross Taylor. Openers Martin Guptil and Colin Munro were out for 1 and 16 respectively. Wicketkeeper Tim Seifert was out for 2 while Henry Nicholls scored 4. Fast medium bowler Scott Kuggeleijn, 27, scored an unbeaten 35 in 15 balls with 1 four and 4 sixes. Captain Tim Southee, who took one wicket in the match, remained not out on 13 with a six. New Zealand were 55/5 after 10 overs. Doug Bracewell was named Player of the Match.

For Sri Lanka,  medium fast bowler Kasun Rajitha, 25, took 3/44 while captain Lasith Malinga took 2/24. Thisara Perera and Lakshan Sandakan took one wicket each.

Chasing a target of 180, Sri Lanka were all out for 144 in 16.5 overs with Thisara Perera scoring 43 in 24 balls with 2 fours and 3 sixes and Kusal Perera scoring 23 in 12 balls with 3 fours and a six. Opener and wicketkeeper Niroshan Dickwella made 18 with 2 fours and a six while Kusal Mendis made 17. Captain Lashith Malinga made 6.
