Patna : Bihar Government on January 8, 2019, granted proforma promotion to three IPS officers currently on central deputation in ADG rank to DG rank as their juniors were already promoted to the DG rank in Bihar. The three IPS officers promoted to DG rank are : Sheelvardhan Singh ( 1986 batch), Ashok Kumar Verma ( 1986  batch), and A S Rajan ( 1987 batch). They have promoted to DG rank with effect from January 2, 2019. The Home (Police) department issued a notification to this effect on January 8 itself.

Three IPS officers of 1994 batch currently on central deputation in IG rank: Dr Paresh Saxena, Nirmal Kumar Azad, and Ms Anupama Nilekar Chandra, have been granted proforma promotion to ADG rank with effect from January 1, 2019.

Shaleen, an IPS officer of 2001 batch currently on central deputation in DIG rank, has been granted proforma promotion to the IG rank with effect from January 7, 2019, as his junior had already been granted promotion to this rank.

Three IPS officers of 2005 batch currently on central deputation in Selection Grade have been granted proforma promotion to DIG rank. They are : Nishant Kumar Tiwary, Jitendra Rana, and P Kannan.
