Ara : Under the banner of All India Central Council of Trade Union, Coordination Committee of Trade Unions and Associations, Bihar and Jharkhand Medical Representative Association of India, All India Bank Employees Associations, All Indian Bank Officers Associations, Teachers Associations, Asha, Mamata and Aganwadi Sevikas and Sahayikas Association, and Bihar State Non-Gazette Employees Union (Gope faction),hundreds of employees took out a procession on January 8, 2019, that passed through the main thoroughfares of the town and culminated at the gate of the office of Bhojpur District Magistrate at Ara where they staged demonstration.

They are on two – day strike to press their 12- point demand. They raised slogans against the Central and Bihar governments. Due to strike, works in all banks and LIC offices remained paralysed in the and the customers had to face a lot of problems.

Speaking on the occasion, Anand Kumar Singh and Chandra Bhushan Srivastava said the Central and Bihar governments are anti-employees making only false promises. They further said that they would be compelled to launch more aggressive agitation if their 12- point demand are not conceded at the earliest. Their demands include implementation of provisions of Labour act, withdrawal of anti-labour amendments, minimum wage of at least Rs 18,000 and Rs 6,000 pension per month, and security for the unorganised labourers.
