Patna : Bihar Governor cum Chancellor of state universities Lalji Tandon while addressing a meeting of Vice-Chancellors (VCs) at Raj Bhavan on December 14, 2018, said that private institutions of higher education will have to close down if they fail to comply with the prescribed rules and regulations.
Stating that Bihar does not lack in resources to improve the quality of higher education in the state, Governor Tandon asked the VCs to implement the directives issued to them with dedication. He, however, said he would welcome the suggestions of the VCs provided they are logical. Laxity in implementation of decisions taken by the government would not be tolerated, the Governor said. He also asked the VCs to send their recommendations for affiliation of new colleges to the government after getting the approval of the respective Senate by January 15, 2019.
The Governor also asked all the universities and colleges to make sincere efforts to get National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) accreditation. The universities and colleges not having NAAC accreditation fail to financial aid from central agencies including RUSA, he said.
