11 yr old killed in dispute over coins under Pirbahore PS, Patna

Patna : In a shocking incident, an eleven year old boy Alam was strangulated to death by a Lohanipur resident Chandan recently in a dispute over some coins and the body was hidden under river drive under Pirbahore police station of the state capital. The matter came to light when the boy’s family members reached Pirbahore police station on December 13, 2018, requesting police to locate their ward.

Sensing the gravity of the situation, police lodged a complaint and after preliminary investigation arrested one Chandan, a resident of Lohanipur, in this connection.

Police said that Alam, a resident of Pirbahore locality, went missing after he had gone to watch Ganga Aarti at Krishna Ghat on Decdember 9, 2018. When the family members inquired from his friends about his whereabouts, one of his friends revealed that one Chandan had called him there when Alam was watching Ganga Aarti.

Police said that Alam used to fish out coins thrown into river Ganga by devotees and he had some dispute with Chandan over collection of coins. Police said that during interrogation, Chandan revealed that he had fished out some coins including a silver coin during Chhath Pooja. He claimed that Alam, who was loitering there, escaped with the coins.

Quoting Chandan, police said that on December 9, during Ganga Aarti, Chandan caught Alam and inquired about the coins including the silver coin. When Alam feigned ignorance, Chandan assaulted him mercilessly and strangulated him to death and hid his body.

DSP (Town) Suresh Prasad said that acting on the revelations made by Chandan, police later recovered Alam’s body buried under river drive at Krishna Ghat.
