Patna : The order of Supreme Court Judge Anil R Dave asking all former chief ministers of Uttar Pradesh to vacate the government bungalows allotted to them within two months, may affect five former chief ministers of Bihar too.
Supreme Court held the UP’s Ex CMs residence allotment rules 1997 as ultra vires and directed all CMs to vacate their government bungalows within two months.The petition was filed by Lok Prahari, an NGO, in 2004.
Five former chief ministers of Bihar: Satish Prasad Singh, Jagannath Mishra, Lalu Prasad, Rabri Devi, Nitish Kumar and Jeetan Ram Manjhi have been allotted government bungalows on Strand Road , Hardinge Road and Circular Road in central Patna in their capacity as former chief ministers.
Since,the directive has come from the Supreme Court, it shall be applicable in all the states unless amendments are made by the state governments concerned. Five former CMs in Jharkhand: Babu Lal Marandi, Arjun Munda, Madhu Koda, Shibu Soren and Hemant Soren have also been allotted government bungalows by Jharkhand government.
