Panta : World No 16 in Badminton World Federation (BWF) rankings Sameer Verma, 24, India, and World No 36 Lu Guangzu, 22, China, enter the final of Syed Modi International Badminton Championship, an HSBC BWF World Tour Super 300 tournament, at Lucknow, India, on November 24, 2018. The final is scheduled for November 25, 2018.

Sameer, the defending champion, beat World No 100 Chico Aura Dwi Wardoyo, 20, Indondesia, in a three-game encounter 21-13, 17-21, 21-8 in 57 minutes in the semi-finals at Lucknow on November 24. Sameer won 59 rallies in the match to 42 by Wardoyo. Sameer won 10 consecutive points in the match to 5 by his Indonesian rival.

Guangzu, the 6th seed, beat World No 46 Sitthikom Thammasin, 23, Thailand, in a three-game thriller 10-21, 21-16, 21-17 in 61 minutes in the semi-finals. Guangzu won 52 rallies in the match to 54 by Thammasin, the 8th seed. Guangzu won 6 consecutive points to 5 by Thammasin.
