Ara :Medicare services remained paralysed completely in Bhojpur district for the second consecutive day on November 23, 2018, as all the private clinics also remained closed at the call of the Indian Medical Association, Ara branch. Out patient Department and emergency service at Sadar Hospital, Ara, also remained affected for the fourth consecutive day.
The doctors are on strike since November 20, 2018, evening, in protest against thrashing of three doctors by the security guards after bringing them to his residence. The doctors have alleged that the three doctors were thrashed at the behest of DM Sanjeev Kumar.
The Bihar Health Service Association and the IMA have demanded lodging of a criminal case against the DM, constitution of of medical Board to assess his mental health, transfer of the DM and his removal as the chairperson of the Bhojpur Health Samiti. The office bearers of the IMA and the BHSA said their agitation would continue till their demands are conceded by the state government.
The DM visited the Ara Sadar Hospital on November 23 and reviewed the situation and ordered that the emergency service should not be affected at any cost.
Meanwhile, activists of the Shiv Sena took out protest march against the striking doctors while the People Forum took out candle march against the doctors on November 23. On the other hand, activists of the CPI (ML) strongly criticised the Bhojpur DM for his dictatorial behaviour.
