Man killed as police opens fire in self-defence at Patna, 2 injured

Patna : One Pintoo was killed when a team of policemen opened fire in self-defence at village Etwarpur under Beur police station (PS) in Patna district on late November 4, 2018, late night.
A police team had gone to Etwarpur to conduct raid after getting information that some criminals have assembled there. As the team reached there, stones were thrown at them. In self-defence, cops opened fire killing one of the miscreants on the spot. Locals, however, said that police team had gone there as some people were gambling there. They claimed that cops had scuffle with the gamblers after which they opened fire killing a youth there. Agitated over the incident, the locals blocked the road there.

However, police claimed that Beur PS had received information that some criminals had assembled there and were planning  some crime and were gambling. A police team reached there and laid siege to the place. Seeing the cops, the anti-socials showered stones on the cops forcing them to open fire in self-defence in which one Pintoo was killed while two others sustained injuries.
A cop was seriously injured in stone pelting. He has been admitted to PMCH where his condition is stated to be serious.
As the news spread in the locality on November 5, 2018, morning, the residents blocked the main road demanding immediate presence of Patna SSP Manu Maharaaj on the spot.
On getting information, Phulwarisharif DSP Ramakant Prasad and SHOs of Beur, Gardanibagh and Parsa Bazar police station reached the spot with reinforcement.
